For thousands of years, yogis have practiced sun salutations as a means of honoring the sun and expressing gratitude for its life-sustaining energy. Nowadays, sun salutations are generally used as a warm-up sequence to stretch and activate all major muscle groups, while stimulating the heart and circulation system.
In class this week, we’ll take a closer look at the basic postures that form typical sun salutation sequences. Using the breath to transition from posture to posture, we’ll create a mindful and meditative flow. And, if we’re lucky, we might just be rewarded with some rejuvenating rays of Spring sunshine!
